China surpassing the U.S. as the world's largest economy by 2026 is nearly impossible. The U.S. GDP sits around 28 trillion dollars while China is at roughly 18 trillion. Closing an 10 trillion dollar gap in one year would require unprecedented and historically impossible growth rates. China is also facing serious headwinds right now. Its property sector is in crisis, youth unemployment is record high, and foreign investment is fleeing due to geopolitical risk. Meanwhile the U.S. is seeing strong AI-driven investment and consumption. The gap is not closing, it may be widening.

First of all largest economy is really referring to gdp. Then look at the US's gdp which is 31.49 trillion and the fact we are seeing a lot of foreign investment in general and especially with AI. Realistically even despite that fact, China's gdp is 19.6 trillion, it's highly unlikely they will be able to surpass the US in the span of one year.
